De laatste jaren heeft een groot aantal mensen de frituurpan het huis uit gedaan en vervangen door een airfryer. De airfryer, die soms ook heteluchtfriteuse of aero fryer wordt genoemd, is een apparaat dat met hete lucht het voedsel in het apparaat verhit. Bij uitstek zijn airfryers geschikt voor snacks en frites, maar je kunt er ook andere gerechten (die je normaliter in de oven zou doen) mee bereiden of verhitten.
Ben je benieuwd of jij het best je snacks uit de frituur of de airfryer kunt halen? Lees dan zeker even verder, want hieronder zetten we de voor- en nadelen van de nog relatief nieuwe airfryer uiteen.
De pluspunten van de airfryer op een rijtje
In vergelijking met een traditionele frituurpan heeft een airfryer de volgende pluspunten:
- Voedsel uit de airfryer is meestal gezonder. Voor bereiding in deze heteluchtfriteuse heb je namelijk maar weinig olie nodig. Dat staat in schril contrast met de grote hoeveelheden olie die een frituurpan vraagt. Hierdoor zijn snacks uit de frituur rijker aan vetten en calorieën. Vervang je vervolgens ook nog de olie te laat, dan krijg je ongezonde, verouderde olieresten binnen.
- Airfryers zijn veel veiliger in gebruik dan frituurpannen. De kans op brandwonden (door klotsende olie) of zelfs een brand is simpelweg vele malen kleiner.
- In een airfryer kun je meer gerechten bereiden dan in een frituur.
- Airfryers verspreiden geen sterke geur, dit in tegenstelling tot een frituurpan. Frituren in de schuur of buiten is daarom niet meer nodig.
- Een airfryer is makkelijker te onderhouden en schoon te maken. Je bent dan ook verlost van dat vervelende klusje van het vervangen van de frituurolie.
Zijn er ook nadelen aan de airfryer?
Alle positieve punten van airfryers ten spijt, deze apparaten kennen natuurlijk ook een paar nadelen. Dit zijn de volgende:
- Het verhitten van patatten en snacks in de airfryer duurt langer dan in de frituurpan. Hierdoor is een airfryer minder geschikt om grote aantallen mensen van voedsel te voorzien, al is een beetje geduld natuurlijk ook een schone zaak. Overigens is een airfryer wel een stuk sneller dan een oven.
- Aangezien eten uit een airfryer in principe gezonder is dan uit de frituur ligt het risico op de loer dat je vaker snacks gaat eten zodra je in het bezit bent van een heteluchtfriteuse. Dat is uiteraard niet de bedoeling; gekookte aardappelen met groenten blijven immers gezonder.
- Frieten en snacks uit de airfryer kunnen minder knapperig zijn. Of dat echt een nadeel is hangt echter natuurlijk wel van je eigen voorkeuren af. Overigens zijn er zeker specifieke frites en snacks verkrijgbaar die na verhitting in een airfryer wel degelijk lekker krokant worden. Zaak is dus om je keuzes in de supermarkt daarop te baseren.
Conclusie
Onder de streep moeten we concluderen dat een airfryer bijna iedereen beter zou passen dan een frituurpan. De voordelen van de airfryer wegen namelijk ruimschoots op tegen de nadelen, die je met een goed inkoopbeleid, enige discipline en simpelweg wat geduld met gemak moet kunnen neutraliseren. Kortom, een lekker portie bitterballen bereid je voortaan in de airfryer.
